It is good

Today we went to the beach to meet the family of Abdulwahed, a Moroccan man we have spoken to a few times. His wife and two daughters came and played in the sand with Sarah and Oliver while Abdulwahed and I hand some Moroccan mint tea with a few other men. Pretty cool! Though It does demonstrate one of the odd things about living here: The division between men and women. In many ways they seem to live in different worlds. It's something to which Sarah and I are adjusting. We are happy to be meeting people though and learning about the culture. We are getting closer to making our house our home and are learning which taps will grant hot water and which toilets to use. This is a picture of our front window and the beautiful flowers that climb up to the balcony above.

Weird, huh? Yeah, Morocco is a land of . . . (get ready for it). . . contrasts.

Being two minutes from the beach has been lovely. It is very hot in the afternoon and I get to run down and swim or play in the waves for a few minutes almost every day. And if Ollie is fussy a trip to the beach always cheers him up (though leaving the beach can be cause for some crying). Here he is getting some sand off in the bucket in our yard.

And when the breeze picks up off the ocean it feels and smells great (until someone starts a trash fire up the road). Oh well, more contrasts. So we are slowly getting settled and finding our way around both the place and the people. It is exhilarating and tiring and always stretching us. It is good.
